Problem Statement

Finding a parking slot is a well-known urban headache. City dwellers makes their sweet plan to visit a market place, watch a movie, attend a function, etc. But, hassles of getting a proper parking spoil their whole plan right at the beginning.

Challenge

Design smart phone app for users to book a parking slot in parking space in vicinity of his destination with his app depending on

  • Prefered location, Cost, automobile size
  • Proper and logical payment mechanism
  • Should be able to book while driving, hence very less interactions

Assumptions

User Research

Users in age group of 22-50years owning vehicle, driving often for work like shopping, meeting clients, visiting doctor any many more.

Research Question

  • How often do you go out in a week and need to find a parking space?
  • Minimum how many hours you need to park your vehicle when doing your chores ?
  • What are your major activities when you need park your vehicle. Eg: shopping, grocery buying, meeting client, lunch, visiting doctor?
  • When would you be booking your parking spot:
    • While driving
    • Before leaving from home
  • What is preferred mode of payment:
    • debit card
    • paytm
    • Cash

Research Findings

  • Atleast thrice a week I have to attend cient lunch meeting. Everytime I have to search for location to park and lot of time just goes intto it.
  • I should be able to choose my spot as per my automobile size, cost and location
  • Would reserve parking space before leaving ,hence save time
  • Wallet payment are faster and need not worry about the change

Persona

Pooja Gupta

Pooja is 32 years old lives in urban city and works with IT company as software consultant. She has one daughter. She drives Honda City for all her commute. Atleast thrice a week is spent outside office meeting clients either during lunch hours or sometimes in cafe. Evening after office hours she goes to pick her daughter and sometimes needs to do grocery shopping which takes half hour.

Motivation

  • Wants to finish all her outdoor chores faster and spend valuable time with her daughter in evening.

Frustation

  • Finding parking spot takes away most of her energy.
  • Dont like to keep on driving just to find one empty spot.

Behaviours

  • Drives by car for all her personal work
  • Have lunch or coffee meetings with clients at 3 times a week
  • Punctual with timings

Goals

  • Reduce amount of time spent everytime on searching parking and can concentrate on meeting stuff.
  • Wants to be aware of parking situation in area before she reaches.

  • Search parking spot in required location
  • View number of spots available
  • Select and view the details
  • Reserve parking spot
  • Do the payment

User flow

Sketches

On entering area name, app shows map of that locality and available parking spots along with parking rates. User can view list also by clicking on list button on top right

When user clicks on any one location, its shows the details like pictures and a button to reserve spot appears.

Once user reserves the spot, he receives the receipt in form of barcode which he could use to park the vehicle.

Wireframes

Since the user is always in hurry while leaving for somewhere, hence I designed app consisting only five screens. User can book parking space on the go without much hassle. User should enter area name or area code on opening app. The app will show available free parking space along with rates. When user selects one spot, it shows details about that spot, after which user can reserve and select payment method. On reserving spot user gets a barcode receipt for confirmation.
